Sheer Bikinis Vs See-Through Bikini Swimwear - What's the Difference When Buying a Swimsuit Online?

Buying bikinis online is a simple process once you know the jargon that the swimwear site uses to describe their fashions.

Sometimes the term sheer bikinis is synonymous with see-thru bikinis, but after having purchased both types over the years, there are several differences that consumers should be aware of before placing an online order.

A sheer bikini, in most instances, means that the fabric is very thin and will reveal the skin when the suit gets wet. In addition, the fabric is usually nylon and Lycra or a combination.

Another important factor to consider is that many sheer bikinis create the illusion of revealing skin underneath the swimsuit, when in reality the manufacturer has used nude-colored fabric to create the sheer effect.

A see-through bikini, on the other hand, means that you can see through the fabric regardless if the swimwear is wet or dry. Also, the see-through bikini does not use nude-colored fabric as a liner in either the top or bottom pieces of the bikini.

Both types of bikinis are made in solid colors, prints, or stripes. However, if you want every curve, ripple, and nuance to be revealed, whether you're lying on the beach, or sauntering out of the water, then you should choose a see-thru bikini.

Another important aspect to consider when you're purchasing bikinis online is that most swimwear sites will not refund your purchase price unless there is a flaw in the fabric, or if the swimsuit got damaged during shipment.

Most online swimwear sites will, however, allow you to exchange your swimsuit for another size or style when it's returned with all the tags still attached, a copy of your receipt, and if the swimsuit has not been worn.
Sheer bikinis are worn when you want to leave a little to the imagination, whereas a totally see-through bikini shows everything, regardless of the chosen color or pattern.
